We take so many things for granted…

“We take so many things for granted in our lives. Every day, we wish for new things, a new laptop, a new ipad, a new promotion at job, blah blah blah, to bring a bit of luxury and of course fun to life. How often do we sleep while planning for tomorrow, although we have no idea if we are gonna ever wake up again? Of course, being ambitious and hopeful is good. But hey, just a minute, now lets think this way. What if we woke up, didn’t die or anything, but woke up and realized that we don’t have much time left?

The other day, as I was scrolling down on my Facebook news feed, something really caught my attention. A video. From a famous Persian actor’s fan page account. Since I like this actor, I opened up the video. It started up with Golshifteh Farahani, another famous actress who had to go outside Iran for many political issues a few years ago, with a strong make up. Looking quite sick, the atmosphere looked like celebrities were well trying to promote something that had got to do with health.

It was about cancer. And that how many people are dealing with Blood Cancer. How many Iranians. And that the genes of Iranians were too different to the genes of the people who had put their bone marrow into a genes bank to help others. This means that, so many Iranians have died in the past years because there were not many people from the country, with similar genes to donor just some of their bone marrow, which obviously didn’t impact their health in anyway.

After I saw this video, I looked at life in a different way for maybe just a few minutes or so. I thought: “Whoa! Look! there people who need this! there are people who don’t know if they will live for another month, week, even day or not. May be none of us do. No body guarantees that I will live for the next 70 years and not die tomorrow or that the person with cancer would die next week. The difference is simply just the likeliness.”

That night, my mum was sitting on the computer and all of sudden she said: “Hey do you think we could go on this website Bahram Radan and Golshifteh Farahani were talking about in this recent you tube video and sign up for a bone marrow donor? Have you seen it by the way?”

I just smiled. We can make a difference. With little things. Celebrities are the best to start it up with a little clue. But we could too. Any each of us could light up the little flames a celebrity makes. And.. to be honest, one flame doesn’t make a difference, but a large bunch of burning wood does. Yea, it makes a difference. The difference can be positive or negative. It can either burn a whole village, or light it up. Let’s be the one who lights up, not the one who burns…”

P.s. You could watch the video here 🙂
